Are you a European artist working at the intersection of culture and elderly care? Apply now to join the International Hosting Week from June 19-24, 2025, in the Netherlands. Applications are open until May 16 2025.
What is the International Hosting Week?
As part of the Culture and Health Platform project, co-funded by the EU, we are welcoming five international (EU) artists to the Netherlands for a five-day program designed to explore the intersection of arts and elderly care. The program includes:
- Visits to organizations to exchange and gain hands-on experience.
- A shared dinner for informal networking and community-building.
- A final presentation where both artists and participating organizations share their insights.
Opportunities for Participation
The program offers a diverse and inspiring range of site visits and activities, tailored to the interests and expertise of the participating artists. Some activities will be attended collectively by all five artists, while other sessions will be customized to provide deeper engagement in specific areas of interest. This week is designed to foster knowledge exchange, hands-on learning, and the opportunity to share expertise with Dutch institutions working in the same field.
Final Presentation Event
At the end of the week, a presentation session will be organized, where both artists and all participating organizations of the hosting week will share their experiences. The format is open-ended—presentations can include PowerPoint slides, short films, or other creative forms suited to the participants. This event is not only a chance to reflect on learnings but also to strengthen the international network of arts and health professionals.
Practical Information
Location: You are staying in a centrally located city in the Netherlands, with activities spread across various locations in the Netherlands.
Language: The working language for all activities is English.
Costs & Funding: Thanks to the Culture and Health Platform project, co-funded by the EU, all expenses—including travel to the Netherlands, accommodation (18-25 June), meals, local transportation, and program activities—are fully covered. Artists will be reimbursed after the program, with travel costs covered up to €250 for distances up to 500 km and up to €450 for distances over 500 km. For journeys of 600 km or more, a green mobility top-up of €350 will be provided. Additionally, food and beverage expenses will be reimbursed up to a reasonable daily amount.
Documentation: Artists will document their experiences in innovative ways, aligning with their artistic practice. Additionally, the LKCA (Landelijk Kenniscentrum Cultuureducatie en Amateurkunst/ National Knowledge Center for Cultural Education and Amateur Arts) will publish an article about the week.
Participation: Artists can participate in only one call in the next four years: the national work grant, the European work grant, or the European travel grant. This means that if you are awarded this work grant, you will no longer be eligible for a travel grant through the Culture and Health platform. However, you can still take part in the online training and attend the showcase events.
